"In the past you had problems with the gray balance, which
turns from neutral to red or green to neutral with inkjets. This is a
problem of how far away the color is from the filter of the densitometer and
this changes extremly with inkjet colors if you print scales. With the new
technology each step is calculated separatly to get a gray which has the HUE
    of the 100% gray.
I saw first results and it isn't perfect (this I think is more a problem of
metamerism, because this changes from Ink to Ink), but 200% better than
    everything I saw before.

My opinion is, Best did the right step to be prepared for the future and I
look forwared what they want offer us next year :)"

"This software lets you relax: Best Designer Edition and Best Photo Edition 3.0

This is a great deal more than an upgrade: we have completely redesigned our Mac-based proofing and photo solutions for graphic artists, designers, the printing trade and digital photographers – customized for Mac OS X. Among the important enhancements are built-in Adobe PostScript 3™, a new user interface, PDF/X support, multi-format layout and contact-form functions plus selectable RIP resolutions. Best Designer Edition and Best Photo Edition 3.0 are now available in nine languages.

With the new interface designed according to the Apple Human Interface Guide, we have made it even easier to use the software. Navigation is intuitive and easy to understand. Inside there have been even more changes. The new Adobe Interpreter enables in-RIP separations, overprinting and the use of 2-byte fonts via font download.

The Best Designer Edition now also supports unlimited in-lab and CMYK-defined spot colors. A new, easy-to-use editor ensures reliable integration of spot colors. Best Designer Edition works with the market standards Pantone (PC colors), HKS and Toyo. Jobs with different color spectra can be integrated via object-oriented color management.

To reduce the calculation time of print jobs, the user has the option of three different internal RIP resolutions, each of which permits the printer resolution to be set to 1:1, 1:2 or 1:4 without affecting the print resolution.

Best Designer Edition and Best Photo Edition 3.0 work with nearly 30 inkjet printers from Agfa, Canon, Epson and Hewlett Packard. For the first time, CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) is supported. This saves users the trouble of manually setting the printing options via the printer driver. The software is supplied in two "sizes": product size M handles inkjet printers up to A3 format, product size XL supports printers up to poster format or 24" wide.

Version 3.0 of Best Designer Edition and Best Photo Edition are superb proofing and photo solutions for the Mac OS X and underline our support of the Mac community. System requirements are a Mac G3 processor or higher, 256MB RAM, 1GB free disk space, a CD or DVD drive and a free USB port. The software also requires Mac OS X Version 10.2.1 or higher."
