Roxio Toast Lite 6

Hallo,

ich habe folgendes Problem mit Roxio Toast Lite 6:
Immer wenn ich eine Daten-CD brenne, fügt er mir automatisch die Dateien "Desktop DB" und "Desktop DF" ein. Wie kann ich dasverhindern?

2) Kennt ihr vielleicht andere gute Kostenlose CD / DVD Brennprogramme?
Kann ich vielleicht XCDRoast verwenden? (Is von Linux). Ich hab OpenDarwin installiert.

zu 1: Es gibt doch die Option unter erweitert, die die Desktop-Dateien beim Brennen auschließt... Ich habe allerdings die Vollversion, kann also sein, dass dies bei der Lite-Version fehlt...

 

leider kann ich diese Option bei mir nicht finden. Gibt es keine andere Möglichkeit?

Fragt sich, warum du die Dateien, die der Finder braucht, unterdrücken willst. Eigentlich steht da nicht viel, teilweise die Finder-Information von Datein. Na und!?

 

Ich will den Blödsinn einfach nicht auf meinen erstellten CD's haben. Deswegen suche ich nach einer Lösung dass sich diese Dateien nicht von selber auf meine CD's schreiben

"Desktop Database issues

The Macintosh maintains a central "Desktop Database" of information about the applications and documents on a volume. The system uses information in the Desktop Database to display document icons and launch the correct application when a document is opened. The Desktop Database also contains "Finder Comments", i.e. text entered into the "Comments" field in the Finder's "Get Info" window. On volumes larger than 2MB the Desktop Database is stored in two invisible files named "Desktop DB" and "Desktop DF" in a volume's root directory. When Toast burns a CD in the "Data" or "MP3 disc" formats it copies the most appropriate Desktop Database from one of the user's volumes.

The Problem

The following behavior is specific to Mac OS 9. When the system grows the Desktop DB file it does not clear out the newly allocated space. Therefore unused (but allocated) areas of the Desktop DB file may contain information from previously deleted files on your hard disk. Even though the Desktop DB file is invisible and not normally accessible, its contents can be viewed with a low-level hex editor. Copying the Desktop DB file to a CD or DVD therefore constitutes a serious security problem.

Also, the Desktop Database may contain Finder comments for already deleted items and/or items that are not written to CD/DVD. Some web browsers e.g. store information about a downloaded file's origin (the download URL) as a Finder comment. The Desktop Database may therefore contain information about web sites visited and files downloaded by a user.


The Solution

Toast 5.1.2 always clears all unused space in the Desktop Database. Toast 5.1.2 also ensures that the Desktop Database contains Finder comments only for those files and folders that are actually written to CD/DVD. This resolves both issues listed above.

The Desktop Database still contains some information about applications that were installed at some point on a user's system. This information is of a non-sensitive nature though, it is limited to document icons and general information about document types that an application can open or edit.

Users that do not wish to share this information or would like to reduce the amount of space occupied by the Desktop Database can do so by double-clicking the CD icon in Toast's "Data" pane and checking the "Use Empty Desktop Database" box. This will cause Toast to write out a generic, empty Desktop Database that contains no information whatsoever. Writing an empty Desktop database may cause various minor problems such as incorrect icon display, also it may not be possible to open documents on the CD/DVD by double-clicking them, because the system will not be able to associate the document with an application. For these reasons we do not recommend that you use an empty Desktop Database."

Wenn ich mac-christians Posting richtig lese, dann ist es gar nicht so gut, diese Dateien ganz zu löschen. Andersfalls kann man die Dateien auf der CD/DVD nicht per Doppelklick öffnen und die Icon könnten falsch sein.

Und da die Datei unsichtbar sind, dürfte das doch auch nicht stören. Einzig die Finderkommentare möchte man machmal nicht so gerne weitergeben, wenn da z.B. ein Download-Link steht, woher diese Datei runtergeladen wurde. Ansonsten habe ich nie persönliche Wörter in das Kommentarfeld geschrieben, die keiner lesen soll!

Daher verstehe ich nicht, wieso so ein Umstand? Brenn die CD doch als ISO9660. Die kann auch ein Windows-User lesen, dann ist - soviel ich weiss -auch die besagte Datei nicht drauf.
